The Summit of Leaders at the Paris Geopolitical Academy, France.

At a recent summit held at the Geopolitical Academy of Paris, discussions centered on the crucial role of Afghanistan's geopolitical position in the dynamics of peace and conflict within the region. Organized by the Geopolitical Academy, the Afghan Peace Dialogue, and other relevant organizations, this event brought together former ministers, ambassadors, and experts to deliberate on the key issues affecting Afghanistan's future.

Reza Jafari highlighted the importance of initiatives like the Afghan Peace Dialogue, especially after the fall of Kabul, which aim to chart a roadmap for sustainable peace and foster reconciliation among diverse stakeholders. Discussions also underscored the French government’s commitment to assisting Afghanistan in its quest for peace, despite the international focus often shifting due to other global conflicts.

An expert from the Sorbonne University highlighted the complexity of Afghanistan’s geography and its impact on historical divisions and conflicts, emphasizing the roles of ethnic groups such as the Pashtuns, Tajiks, and Hazaras. He also noted the significance of capital cities as focal points in conflicts.

The discussions further addressed the Taliban's influence on Afghanistan’s instability, the need for an inclusive government that respects all ethnicities, and the importance of addressing grievances among various ethnic groups to encourage reconciliation and cooperation. The summit emphasized the multifaceted nature of Afghanistan's geopolitical position and its profound implications for regional stability, calling for concerted efforts, both nationally and internationally, to address the root causes of conflict and pave the way for a peaceful and prosperous Afghanistan.
